ILAT Program
The Independent Living and Assistive Technology (ILAT) program provides services to individuals with severe physical disabilities designed to maximize their independence, productivity, inclusion and integration into the community.
This is accomplished by offering a coordinated and complementary array of services, while maximizing the choices available to Nevadans with disabilities. Clients are given the resources to:
- Develop a plan for living with maximum independence.
- Identify public and private programs (including he ILAT program) to secure needed services.
- Choose from appropriate vendors to receive services.
- Provide honest feedback on the assistance they receive.
- Become effective self-advocates.
History/Overview:
The ILAT program was developed 14 years ago by the Office of Disability Services. It is available to assist all individuals with a documented disability, regardless of age, sex or race. The program is primarily funded through State/Federal Grants, as well as funds from the Division of Aging Services. In July 2005 RAGE, inc was created. RAGE is a federally recognized non-profit program and currently runs the ILAT program in Southern Nevada. In addition, RAGE also offers services catered specifically to individuals with spinal cord injuries. RAGE prides itself on being an information resource to other agencies in the community as well as an advocate for all persons with disabilities. Throughout the years, we have helped hundreds of individuals improve or acquire their independence.
